Stage 2 of GFS Agricultural Facility Announced

GFS Managing Director, Mr Bruce Smyth and the Director of the Saudi Arabian company 'Global Food Saudi' met in Riyadh, this week to discuss the expansion of the GFS Agricultural Facility.

The meeting has seen a number of expansions to stage one of the Agricultural Facility as well as the announcement of Stage 2 of the project, which is currently under construction in Al Kharj, Saudi Arabia.

There were a number of additions to stage one in order to cater for the future develpment of stage 2. Stage one will showcase a tomato glass house, modular housing for workers accommodation, first class managers residence, goat breeding facility, mushroom factory, compost production facility and laboratory, Excel fodder modules, various orchards and waste water and water treatment systems.

With the new additions stage one now has an estimted construction cost of USD$18 Million. Stage one is expected to be completed in April 2010, at which time construction will begin on stage two of the project.

Stage two will see the additon of two state of the art hydroponic herb and lettuce production systems, an up size in the mushroom factory production of 1000t per year and a bagging facility for expired mushroom compost, to be sold as soil conditioner.
